JEREMY MAYNE
Jeremy Mayne has been performing as a professional guitarist since 1987. He has performed throughout much of North America, including Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., as well as Mexico and Canada. As active ensemble player, he has been a featured soloist with the UNM Orchestra and the UNM Faculty String Quartet. He performed for three years with the IU Latin American Ensemble. He currently performs with the Celtic group Caledonia.
As a scholarship recipient to the CSU Summer Arts 1994, he studied with Pepe Romero, Eliot Fisk, and William Kanengiser. He has also performed in masterclass with Sharon Isbin of the Julliard School, Bruce Holzman, and Tom Patterson.
Mayne holds a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from the University of New Mexico, where he studied with Michael Chapdelaine and a Master of Music in Guitar Performance from Indiana University, where he studied with Ernesto Bitetti and Luis Zea.
Mayne has been a prize-winner at the 1994 MTNA-Wurlitzer Collegiate Artist Competition, the 1995 Portland Guitar Competition, the 1993 UNM Concerto Competition, and the 1992 and 1995 SAI Scholarship Competitions.
His debut recording, portrait of the Guitar was released in 1995. His second recording, Cancion Del Emperador was released in the Fall of 1999. He is currently a Faculty member in the UNM Guitar Department, where he directs the UNM Guitar Ensemble and teaches guitar majors.
