PETER ULFFERS
Peter Ulffers, a native of Alton, Illinois, received his Bachelor of Music performance degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, where he studied with Roger Kaza and Roland Pandolfi, and his Master of Music performance degree from Northwestern University, where he studied with Dale Clevenger. While in the Chicago area he performed with the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the South Bend, Northwest Indiana, and Illinois symphonies, and the Chicago Symphony. Mr. Ulffers is now in his 12th season as principal horn of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and was also principal horn of the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, third horn of the Santa Fe Symphony, and has performed with Santa Fe Pro Musica, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and the Santa Fe Opera. In 1990, he won the St. Louis Symphony Scholarship Competition and the Music Teachers’ National Association Collegiate Competition (Brass Division). He has appeared as soloist in the summer of 1995 with the Cascade Festival in Bend, Oregon, and several times since 1996 with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.
