HANNAH STEPHENS
Coloratura soprano, Hannah Stephens, is currently working on her Masters of Music degree at the Jacobs School of Music in Indiana University. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.M. in Vocal Performance in May 2008, where she studied with Marilyn Tyler. Her most recent operatic roles were the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and Despina in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. She also participated in several other operas during her undergraduate career, including Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Handel’s Julio Cesare, and Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, in which she understudied the role of Norina. In concert, she has performed various scenes and arias ranging from the Mad Scene from Lucia di Lammermoor to Tatiana’s Letter Scene from Eugene Onegin. Hannah has been a soloist in Handel’s Messiah and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb with the University of New Mexico Concert Choir. She also performed a piece by student-composer, Monica Demarco, which won the John D. Robb Composer’s Symposium competition in 2008.
