HOVEY DEAN CORBIN, JR.
Hovey Dean Corbin, Jr., percussion, is an Albuquerque native who received dual Bachelor degrees in Music Education (percussion emphasis) and Vocal Performance (baritone) from the University of New Mexico in 1995. Since then he has danced professionally as a touring member of the Bill Evans Dance Company, premiered 20th century works for percussion ensemble, including “From One to Another” by Stuart Saunders Smith, and performed in countless musical theater productions, both onstage and off. Now in his 14th year of teaching at the Albuquerque Academy (band/guitar) he currently enjoys freelancing with such groups as the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Sol Calypso Steel Drum Band, Vespus Marimba Band, Musica Antigua de Albuquerque, and the southwest’s premier heavy metal vaudeville ensemble, Skümbaag.
